Serving high-quality hibachi and more than 70 freshly prepared sushi rolls, Saketini in Broussard is shaking the game up. Offering authentic Asian cuisine with a few touches of Cajun influence sprinkled in, this sushi house is sure to satisfy.
Saketini is owned by husband and wife Jonah and Diane Landry. Diane is a former sushi chef who worked at the restaurant when it first opened in 2010. The Landrys took ownership of the business in 2017 and really wanted to revamp how people saw the restaurant.
“I’ve put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this,” Diane explains. ” We have spent a lot of time trying to perfect the brand. We had to revamp the whole name and looks like we’re doing pretty good at it. We made it to the top five for Best of Acadiana five years in a row. Last year we made it to the top three so I think that’s a kind of a big accomplishment.”

Diane has made it one of her goals to only serve the highest quality food possible. She says if she would not feed it to her children she will not serve it. You can ask her kids that at the restaurant. Her daughters Sydney, Whisper, and Lyric work at Saketini throughout the week. They enjoy supporting the family business and bring a level of expertise to each dining experience.
Saketini has a very expansive menu with everything from raw sushi, noodle, stuffed peppers, and more. They also offer daily specials throughout the work week in case you are having a hard time selecting what to get.
Their most popular roll is called ‘Tap That’ it is served on seaweed with rice, crab meat, cream cheese, shrimp tempura, and jalapeno strips. The roll is topped with spicy tuna and avocado. Diane created the roll to include all her favorite sushi elements in one and it has become a top seller.
Other popular items include Monkey Brains, which are fried mushrooms stuffed with crab and cream cheese, shrimp udon noodles, and the hibachi. Saketini also has a full-service bar with plenty of seasonal cocktails, sake, and other drinks to choose from.
“This entire experience has been great,” she says. “I’m here all the time and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Making relationships with our regulars and seeing families grow up right in front of us, nothing compares.”
